Please note that our Kundalini Yoga teacher training program is different from the ‘Kundalini Yoga as taught by the yogi Bhajan’ in Canada.
he aim of Kundalini yoga lies in the ancient scriptures of Tantra and Hatha yoga. The founder of Kundalini yoga is none other than Lord Shiva himself and he is called respectfully the ‘Aadi Yogi’ (the first yogi). From the lord Shiva this tradition was handed down to the Matsyendra Nath and then to Guru Gorakhnath. Later on this tradition was flourished with ‘Natha Sampraday’ a sect of people devoted to the practices of Yoga and Tantra both.
The practice of Kundalini yoga includes the practice of advance techniques of Pranayama, Kriyas, Mudras and Bandhas. We use Aasana practices also as part of Kundalini Yoga but here the emphasis doesn’t lie on alignment. Rather here the emphasis is placed on moving the ‘Prana’ energy through the right channels called ‘Nadis’. This is done by practicing the forceful breathing exercises with some serious Kriyas (inner techniques).
Later on students are advised to integrate the advance Mudras and Bandhas at the same time. This way the practice becomes more and more rigorous and focus becomes more intense. The subject starts going beyond the body dimensions (Annamaya Kosha) and enters the dimension of energy (Pranamaya Kosha). Here the focus changes from the external techniques to awareness of Chakras and their functioning. The subject starts becoming aware of the ‘Prana’ movement and gets more and more control over the ‘Prana’.
